Sanctuary Dogs

Our Sanctuary is home to livestock guardian dogs who are still working—but whose needs go beyond what most homes or hobby farms can provide. These dogs were bred to guard and protect, and while they can thrive in the right rural setting, they come with unique challenges. Some struggle with high energy, strong guardian instincts, reactivity to other dogs, bite history, deep fear of strangers or they are undergoing training or medical treatment.

They’re not suited for family homes, hobby farms, or first-time LGD handlers. These are serious working dogs best placed with experienced owners who understand their complex needs and are equipped to help them succeed. If you're looking for a more family-friendly guardian, we encourage you to visit our adoptable dogs page for dogs ready to transition into a home or mixed-use setting.

Hades

Meet Hades—a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees whose strength lies in his quiet resilience. Born with epilepsy, Hades requires daily medication, a strict ketogenic diet, and round-the-clock care to stay stable and safe. He lives in the heart of the sanctuary, in a cozy library without a door, where he can be gently monitored at all times and in the middle of the action..

Because of his condition, Hades faces frequent vet visits, ongoing lab tests, and a constant need for specialized care. Yet through it all, he remains a sweet, trusting soul. Hades may never leave the sanctuary, but you can still be a part of his life. Your donation, virtual adoption, or monthly sponsorship helps us provide the care, comfort, and love he’ll always need.
