At the Golden State Great Pyrenees Rescue and Sanctuary, we are dedicated to the conservation of wolves through the strategic use of Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGDs). Our mission is to protect vulnerable livestock from predation, thereby fostering a harmonious coexistence between ranchers and native wildlife.

Our Approach:

Rescue and Rehabilitation: We provide a safe haven for Great Pyrenees and other LGDs that have experienced trauma or abandonment. Through specialized training, these dogs are prepared to guard livestock effectively, reducing the perceived need for lethal predator control measures.

Conservation Through Protection: By deploying well-trained LGDs, we help ranchers safeguard their animals from predators such as wolves, bears, and lions to name a few. This non-lethal method not only protects livestock but also contributes to the preservation of wildlife populations by minimizing human-wildlife conflicts.

Community Engagement and Education: We offer online and in-person training sessions for ranchers and the public, promoting the benefits of LGDs in livestock protection and wildlife conservation.
