Adopting a guardian dog — or any of our sanctuary animals — is more than bringing home a companion. It’s beginning a lifelong partnership built on trust, patience, and mutual respect. Our adoption process is designed to make sure every placement is a lasting success, giving both the animal and adopter the best possible start together. We take this responsibility seriously because every animal here deserves a forever home where they are safe, understood, and valued.
Please keep in mind that just like all working breeds, livestock guardian dogs aren’t born knowing their job — it takes 18–24 months of consistent training, guidance, and patience to help them grow into reliable protectors. The right genetics give them potential, but your time and commitment turn them into trustworthy partners.
Lifelong Support: When you adopt from our sanctuary, you become part of our extended family. We offer ongoing guidance, transparency, and support for the life of your animal. If challenges arise, we’re here to help navigate them — because in our family, no one gets left behind or forgotten.
How the Process Works
Step 1 – Submit an Adoption Application: Tell us about your needs, lifestyle, and experience so we can begin finding the right match.
Step 2 – Application Review & Conversation: One of our adoption coordinators will personally review your application, connect with you to learn more, and schedule a virtual home check to ensure the environment is a good fit.
Step 3 – Meet Your Match: Once we find the right fit, we’ll share the animal’s profile and arrange a meet-and-greet so you can see the connection firsthand.
Step 4 – Finalize the Adoption: When everyone is ready, you’ll complete the adoption agreement and process your adoption fee via PayPal — officially welcoming your new family member.

RETURNS AND REFUNDS
Adopting an animal is a lifelong commitment, and we urge you to think carefully before making this decision. These dogs require time, training, patience, and resources to thrive. They will bark—a lot—to protect their territory, likely more than you expect. Please be prepared for this natural behavior.
We do not offer refunds on adoptions. If you choose to return an animal, your adoption fee will be considered a donation to help us continue our rescue efforts. If a dog or cat has been in your home for months or years, we kindly ask for an additional donation to support their continued care. While we do our best to accommodate returns, we cannot always take animals back immediately, especially if they have shown serious aggression. We appreciate your patience and collaboration in these situations.
