Our Mission: Saving Lives, Protecting Livestock, and Conserving Wildlife
At Golden State Great Pyrenees rescue and sanctuary, we are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming surrendered, abandoned, abused, and neglected Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGD), with a special focus on Great Pyrenees. Our mission goes beyond rescue—we work to prevent euthanasia, promote responsible pet ownership, and educate the public on the vital role LGDs play in livestock protection and wildlife conservation.
Rescue and Rehabilitation
Every dog deserves a second chance. We provide immediate shelter, medical care, and behavioral rehabilitation to at-risk dogs, including those with special needs or past trauma. By addressing their physical and emotional well-being, we prepare them for a brighter future.
Adoption and Rehoming
Finding the right home is crucial for every LGD. Through outreach, adoption events, and community partnerships, we carefully match each dog with the right family or farm. Whether they become livestock protectors or loving companions, our goal is a forever home where they thrive.
Sanctuary and Lifetime Care
Some dogs cannot be rehomed due to age, illness, or other challenges. For these special cases, we provide a permanent, loving sanctuary where they can live out their days in safety and comfort.
Education and Advocacy
We believe that knowledge is the key to change. Our programs teach responsible pet ownership, proper LGD training, and the importance of spaying/neutering to prevent overpopulation. Additionally, we educate farmers and ranchers on working with LGDs to protect their livestock while promoting coexistence with wildlife.
Preventing Cruelty and Neglect
Rescue is just the beginning. We collaborate with law enforcement and animal welfare organizations to fight against cruelty and neglect. Through awareness campaigns and community support, we strive to make a lasting impact.
