📌 Overhead Essentials

Running a sanctuary means covering the basics that make daily care possible:

  • Location upkeep

  • Electricity, gas, and water

  • Web & phone services

  • Internet access

  • Trash & waste management

  • Transportation

  • Fencing & repairs (as needed)

  • Tractor rental & equipment (as needed)

🐾 Animal Expenses

Welcome Kit – $164 per animal

Every new arrival receives a starter kit to feel safe and begin their journey:

  • Bowls (x2): $20

  • Leash & collar: $40

  • Microchip: $5

  • Vaccinations & deworming: $35

  • Toys & enrichment: $20

  • Grooming supplies: $7

  • Name tag & GPS tracker: $37

Medical Care – $200+

Veterinary care is our single largest ongoing expense.

  • Routine wellness visit: $200+

  • Illness diagnostics: $150–$500

  • Emergency care & surgeries: $250–$3,000+

  • Spay/Neuter: $150–$500

Daily Care for a Dog – $316/month

  • Food: $105

  • Treats: $15

  • Preventatives (probiotics, joint support, flea/tick, etc.): $50

  • Boarding & daily supplies: $146

Goats & Sheep – $2,818/month (herd care)

  • Feed & hay: $2,400/month

  • Minerals & supplements: $5/month per animal

  • Vet care & vaccinations: $100–$200/year per animal

  • Bedding & enclosures: $20/month per animal

  • New arrivals also require vaccinations, microchips, and sometimes hoof trimming or shearing to get them started right (Cost not included in total).
