Some guardians protect homes, not herds

Not every livestock guardian dog is suited for the field — some are happiest by your side. These rescued Great Pyrenees and LGD breeds have gentle temperaments and thrive as loving family companions.

Each dog is health-checked, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered. Some are currently in foster homes, so while they may not have been temperament tested by our staff, their foster families provide valuable insights about their behavior in home settings.

By adopting, you’re saving a life and helping us continue our mission to protect both dogs and livestock through responsible placement.

Juno

Female - Born 2024 - Great Pyrenees

If you are looking for a stunning, affectionate companion to join you on hikes, walks, and couch-cuddles, meet Juno! She is estimated to be about 2 years old and is officially ready to find her forever people.

Juno is a special girl who needs the right environment to truly thrive. Here is the honest scoop on Miss Juno:

Juno is an absolute dream on a leash! She walks beautifully and is always ready for an outdoor adventure. She is a total lovebug who thrives on human attention and loves getting pets.

Juno is looking for a home where she can be a spoiled family pet or a companion dog on a hobby ranch—provided there is no small livestock around!

Juno is definitely not a working Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD). She has a high prey drive/play drive when it comes to smaller animals, and she will chase chickens, baby goats, and lambs. Because of this, she cannot be placed in a working guard role or on a farm with loose, small livestock.

Juno is a vibrant, loving young dog who just wants to be part of the family. If you have a secure yard, love going for walks, and don’t have a flock of birds or baby livestock for her to chase, Juno might just be the perfect addition to your pack!

Angel

Female - Born September 2025 - Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd mix

Angel is proof that big things come in small packages. Though she was discarded along with her siblings, her spirit remained unbroken. She is playful and spunky, bringing a sense of joy and fierce determination to her foster home.

Samson

Male - 7-9 Months old - Great Pyrenees

Samson is a beautiful 10-month-old Great Pyrenees who was rescued from a shelter, but his real heartbreak happened after he left. Samson was placed in a foster home where he was fundamentally set up to fail. Because of a severe lack of structure, management, and an understanding of this breed’s primitive instincts, Samson was placed in working situations he was not mature enough or trained to handle, resulting in a failed placement. In the rescue world, we know that there are no bad dogs—only humans who fail to guide them. It is clear from his behavior and his history that Samson has had a very rough upbringing, and he is carrying the emotional weight of that neglect.

Despite the trauma of his past, Samson’s true spirit is still intact. He is a resilient boy who just needs the right leader to show him how to navigate the world safely.

  • Curious & Bright: Samson is naturally inquisitive and wants to explore. He is highly intelligent and watches everything with that classic, watchful Pyrenees eye.

  • Dog Friendly: Remarkably, Samson loves the company of other dogs and does very well with canine companions.

  • Needs Time to Trust: Because humans have let him down so deeply, Samson requires a slow, patient introduction to new people and new animals. He is not a dog you can rush. He needs to observe from a distance and learn that he is safe before he lets his guard down.

We owe Samson the world after what he has been through, which means we will be explicitly and unapologetically selective about his forever home. Samson is being retired from any potential livestock work and must go to a companion-only placement.

He needs a secure, quiet acreage or rural home with an experienced owner who understands the nuances of the Great Pyrenees breed, behavioral rehabilitation, and decompression. He needs a fortress-like fence, a predictable routine, and an adopter who will advocate for him by keeping his world small and safe while he heals.

Samson is just a puppy who has lived a lifetime of stress in his short 10 months. With the right, fiercely dedicated handler, he will become the loyal, majestic protector he was always meant to be.

Are you the experienced handler Samson can finally trust? Please submit a detailed adoption application. Serious, breed-experienced inquiries only. 🐾

Lightning

Male- Born September 2025 - Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd Mix

Lightning is fast and loves to play. He does great with his siblings and with the older dogs. Very happy boy!

Snow

Female - 2 Years old - Central Asian Shepherd

Some Livestock Guardian Dogs want to spend their lives patrolling the perimeter under the stars, but Snow has decided her true calling is being a professional companion. This 2-year-old Central Asian Shepherd (Alabai) is a powerful, ancient soul who has traded the field for the living room. If you are looking for a massive, loyal shadow to keep your feet warm while you drink your coffee, Snow is your girl.

Snow is an absolute “velcro” dog who is incredible with humans and has a special, gentle affinity for children. While she is fantastic with goats, she has a high prey drive for anything with feathers, so she requires a strictly bird-free, cat-free home. She is spayed and up-to-date on all vetting.

Snow needs a family that understands the discerning and protective nature of the CAS breed but wants a devoted best friend to live primarily inside the home. She isn’t just an outdoor worker; she is a dedicated family protector ready for her forever home.

Leila

Female - 1 Years old - Akbash

Leila’s journey hasn’t been a straight line, but we know her perfect destination is out there. This gorgeous girl originally landed at a high-kill shelter as a stray. We actually had our eyes on her back then, but she was briefly adopted by someone else. When that placement didn’t work out and she was surrendered, we knew it was absolute fate. The universe brought her right back to us, and we didn’t hesitate for a second to say YES.

Leila is the definition of a total ranch guardian. Please note: Leila is a ranch dog, not a livestock guardian. She has not been livestock tested, as her current foster home doesn’t have stock. However, if you are looking for a true guardian who takes her territory seriously, Leila is your girl.

While she is excellent on a leash, Leila isn’t interested in mundane neighborhood walks or being a suburban patio dog—she prefers to patrol, watch, and walk her own property. She has already shown phenomenal protective instincts and an incredible, natural work ethic.

  • 🐾 Dog Friendly: She gets along great with other dogs—and yes, she has even done wonderfully with other females!

  • 🐱 Kitty Approved: She has already done beautifully around kittens.

  • 🏡 The One Quirky Downside: She is an absolute, professional counter-surfer. If there is food left on the counter, consider it hers! Hey, nobody’s perfect, right? 😂

Leila has so much loyalty, love, and protection to give the right family. Distance shouldn't keep you from this beautiful girl—transportation can easily be arranged anywhere within California for an approved adopter!

📲 Please SHARE to help Leila find her kingdom! Let’s get this stunning Akbash into the forever home she truly deserves.

Koda

Male - 1 Years old - Great Pyrenees

Koda is a beautiful 1-year-old boy who was facing euthanasia at a crowded shelter simply because he had a persistent cough. It breaks our hearts to think how close he came to losing his life over something so incredibly fixable.

The moment we brought Koda into our rescue, we got him straight to the vet. With the proper medication, a warm bed, and a little bit of time, his cough is now almost completely gone! It turns out Koda didn’t need a miracle—he just needed a safe place to call home, proper medical care, and someone to actually look at him with love.

Now that he is feeling 100% better, Koda’s true personality is shining through. He is absolutely adorable, incredibly friendly, and has a gentle, easygoing nature.

Unlike many young dogs of his breed type, Koda is a low-barker, making him a wonderful companion if you appreciate a quieter household. He loves the company of other dogs and handles himself beautifully around both males and females. Because he is still young and fresh out of the shelter, he hasn't been tested around livestock yet, but he is completely ready to master life as a cherished family companion.

Koda has spent his first year being overlooked and failed by the system, but he hasn't let that dampen his sweet spirit. He is healthy, happy, and patiently waiting for the forever family he so truly deserves.
