Some guardians protect homes, not herds
Not every livestock guardian dog is suited for the field — some are happiest by your side. These rescued Great Pyrenees and LGD breeds have gentle temperaments and thrive as loving family companions. We also list all the dogs we have not livestock test.
Each dog is health-checked, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered. Some are currently in foster homes, so while they may not have been temperament tested by our staff, their foster families provide valuable insights about their behavior in home settings.
By adopting, you’re saving a life and helping us continue our mission to protect both dogs and livestock through responsible placement.

Family Guardian
Mateo
Male - Born in 2025- Great Pyrenees - Fresno, CA

How this gorgeous oy ever ended up lost and forgotten as a stray, we will never understand. Since entering rescue, Mateo has been nothing short of absolute perfection.
His foster mom has nothing but glowing things to say about him. Mateo is a total dream inside the home, rides like a champion in the car, and even handles outings to busy parks like a seasoned pro. He takes new experiences in stride and continues to show us just how sweet, adaptable, and loving he truly is.
Soft couch naps, gentle leash manners, car rides, adventures, and unconditional love are Mateo's specialties.
Mateo has shown what a wonderful family companion he can be. He is affectionate, loyal, well-mannered, and ready to become someone's very best friend. Whether you're looking for a buddy to join you on adventures or a gentle giant to curl up beside you at the end of the day, Mateo seems equally happy doing both.
Mateo has not yet been evaluated with livestock, so at this time we are placing him as a Family Guardian rather than a working Livestock Guardian Dog. What we do know is that he is thriving in foster care and proving every day that he has all the makings of an incredible lifelong companion.
After being found as a stray, Mateo deserves more than a temporary stop along the way. He deserves his person, his family, his couch, and the security of knowing that this time, he's finally home.
Mateo is officially ready for his true forever home.
Could you be the happy ending he's been waiting for?

Duke
Female - Born in 2021- Great Pyrenees - Brentwood, CA

hey say a mother’s love knows no bounds, and 5-year-old Mia is living proof. This gorgeous, petite Great Pyrenees (climbing the scales at a perfect, compact 65 lbs!) landed in a crowded Nevada shelter with a whole litter of puppies. She poured everything she had into raising them, and one by one, every single one of her babies was adopted.
But when the puppy dust settled, Mia was left sitting in her kennel all alone. With zero adoption interest and her time rapidly running out on the euthanasia list, we knew we couldn’t let this sweet girl's story end in a shelter. We stepped in, and now she is officially safe, healed, and looking for her true forever kingdom. 👑
After giving everything to her puppies, it is finally Mia’s turn to be cherished, spoiled, and loved just for being herself. Could your couch be her final destination?

Ellie is currently in her puppy "dinosaur stage"—meaning she is exploring the world with her mouth and loves to bite/chew on everything! She will need an adopter who is ready to provide plenty of appropriate chew toys and guide her through basic puppy manners.
While she is a mix and will likely stay on the smaller side, she has a massive heart and deserves a truly wonderful, dedicated forever life.

These gorgeous babies didn't have the easiest start to life, but they are officially safe, fat, happy, and ready to find their forever families!
Their momma, Rebel, was unfortunately left alone on a property while her owners were out of state, and during that time she went into heat. Their dad is a bit of a mystery—a traveling agent's dog whose breed is unknown—making these pups unique, one-of-a-kind mixes!
They were born on a working cow farm, but we stepped in and rescued the whole family when the puppies were just 4 weeks old. Since then, they have been living the good life in our care—getting endless love, top-tier nutrition, and a safe environment to just focus on being happy, healthy puppies.

Samson
Male - 7-9 Months old - Great Pyrenees - Fresno, CA
Samson has had a very rough upbringing and carries the emotional weight of human neglect, but his resilient spirit is still completely intact. He just needs an experienced, dedicated handler to show him the world is safe.
Remarkably, Samson loves the company of other dogs and thrives with canine companions. Highly intelligent, inquisitive, and naturally watchful.
Because humans have let him down, he requires slow, patient introductions to new people and animals. He needs to observe from a distance before letting his guard down.
Because of what he’s been through, we are unapologetically selective about his future. Samson is a puppy who has lived a lifetime of stress, and he deserves a pristine fresh start.
Serious, breed-experienced owners only who understand behavioral rehabilitation and decompression.
With the right leader, Samson will become the loyal, majestic companion he was always meant to be.

Athena
Female - 2 Years old - Central Asian Shepherd - Murrieta, CA
Some Livestock Guardian Dogs want to spend their lives patrolling the perimeter under the stars, but Snow has decided her true calling is being a professional companion. This 2-year-old Central Asian Shepherd (Alabai) is a powerful, ancient soul who has traded the field for the living room. If you are looking for a massive, loyal shadow to keep your feet warm while you drink your coffee, Snow is your girl.
Snow is an absolute “velcro” dog who is incredible with humans and has a special, gentle affinity for children. While she is fantastic with goats, she has a high prey drive for anything with feathers, so she requires a strictly bird-free, cat-free home. She is spayed and up-to-date on all vetting.
Snow needs a family that understands the discerning and protective nature of the CAS breed but wants a devoted best friend to live primarily inside the home. She isn’t just an outdoor worker; she is a dedicated family protector ready for her forever home.

Sunshine
Female - 6 month old - Akbash - Mariposa, CA

At just six months old, sweet Sunshine’s life was almost cut far too short. After catching an upper respiratory infection (URI) at the shelter, she was placed directly on the euthanasia list simply for being sick. We couldn't let a sweet, innocent baby lose her life over a treatable cold.
So, we stepped in, pulled her to safety, and gave her the freedom walk she so deeply deserved!
Sunshine is officially out of the shelter, tucked into a warm bed, and getting the medication, care, and extra TLC she needs to beat this cold. Once she’s fully healed and feeling 100%, this bright girl will be looking for her forever family.
Thank you to everyone who supports our rescue and makes these lifesaving pulls possible. Welcome to your fresh start, Sunshine—your bright future begins today!

Mama Bear
Female - Born September 2022 - Great Pyrenees - Fresno, CA
Sadie arrived at the shelter as a stray, waiting quietly in hopes that someone would come looking for her. Sadly, no one ever came. Faced with the threat of being placed on the euthanasia list, Sadie was running out of time—and carrying a big secret.
When we stepped in to rescue her, a quick trip to the vet revealed that she was less than ten days away from giving birth! After calling everywhere to explore every safe option, it became clear: Sadie was meant to bring her pups into the world safely under our care. We brought her into a loving, comfortable space just in time for her to rest, prepare, and become a mom in a safe environment.
Sadie is an incredibly resilient mama who has given everything to her pups, and now she is ready for a life where she gets to be loved and cared for.

Female - Born July 2025 - Great Pyrenees - Rancho Cordova, CA
Ivorey survived for weeks on the streets while heavily pregnant, with her brave mate Mateo staying by her side and protecting her despite suffering from a severe wound himself.
Before we could get Ivorey to safety, she went into labor inside the shelter. She gave birth to 11 precious puppies. Sadly, three did not survive, but Ivorey and her eight healthy babies made it safely into foster care.
After everything she endured, this incredible mama finally got to experience a warm bed, good food, safety, and love while raising her babies.

Leila
Female - 1 Years old - Akbash - Ridgecrest, CA

Leila’s journey hasn’t been a straight line, but we know her perfect destination is out there. This gorgeous girl originally landed at a high-kill shelter as a stray. We actually had our eyes on her back then, but she was briefly adopted by someone else. When that placement didn’t work out and she was surrendered, we knew it was absolute fate. The universe brought her right back to us, and we didn’t hesitate for a second to say YES.
Leila is the definition of a total ranch guardian. Please note: Leila is a ranch dog, not a livestock guardian. She has not been livestock tested, as her current foster home doesn’t have stock. However, if you are looking for a true guardian who takes her territory seriously, Leila is your girl.
While she is excellent on a leash, Leila isn’t interested in mundane neighborhood walks or being a suburban patio dog—she prefers to patrol, watch, and walk her own property. She has already shown phenomenal protective instincts and an incredible, natural work ethic.
🐾 Dog Friendly: She gets along great with other dogs—and yes, she has even done wonderfully with other females!
🐱 Kitty Approved: She has already done beautifully around kittens.
🏡 The One Quirky Downside: She is an absolute, professional counter-surfer. If there is food left on the counter, consider it hers! Hey, nobody’s perfect, right? 😂
Leila has so much loyalty, love, and protection to give the right family. Distance shouldn't keep you from this beautiful girl—transportation can easily be arranged anywhere within California for an approved adopter!
📲 Please SHARE to help Leila find her kingdom! Let’s get this stunning Akbash into the forever home she truly deserves.
Juno
Female - Born 2024 - Great Pyrenees
If you are looking for a stunning, affectionate companion to join you on hikes, walks, and couch-cuddles, meet Juno! She is estimated to be about 2 years old and is officially ready to find her forever people.
Juno is a special girl who needs the right environment to truly thrive. Here is the honest scoop on Miss Juno:
Juno is an absolute dream on a leash! She walks beautifully and is always ready for an outdoor adventure. She is a total lovebug who thrives on human attention and loves getting pets.
Juno is looking for a home where she can be a spoiled family pet or a companion dog on a hobby ranch—provided there is no small livestock around!
Juno is definitely not a working Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD). She has a high prey drive/play drive when it comes to smaller animals, and she will chase chickens, baby goats, and lambs. Because of this, she cannot be placed in a working guard role or on a farm with loose, small livestock.
Juno is a vibrant, loving young dog who just wants to be part of the family. If you have a secure yard, love going for walks, and don’t have a flock of birds or baby livestock for her to chase, Juno might just be the perfect addition to your pack!
