Hero
Male- Born in 2024 - Great Pyrenees
Hero’s journey started at a crowded shelter when he was just a puppy. He was rescued and adopted into a loving home, but as he grew, his powerful, natural guardian instincts kicked in. The busy city life just wasn’t a match for his DNA, and he became stressed and unhappy.
His dedicated owners worked with several trainers and behaviorists, who all came to the same conclusion: Hero didn't need fixing, he just needed a farm!
Since being surrendered to our rescue, Hero has completely transformed. He is absolutely thriving in his element! He loves ranch life, is doing fantastic protecting chickens and bunnies, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Hero is living proof that the right environment makes all the difference. ❤️

Male- Born in 2024 - Great Pyrenees
Louie’s story began in the aftermath of a major fire, where he was found wandering as a stray. He ended up at a small local shelter that simply didn't have the space or resources a giant breed like him needs. Tragically, no one ever came forward to claim him.
Despite everything he's been through, Louie has kept a massive, joyful spirit! He is a truly large, happy boy who loves life. Because of his background and strong breed traits, he does seem to have a hard time with other male dogs, so he would do best as an only king or with a female companion.

Female- Born in 2025 - Anatolian Shepherd mix
Welcome to the pack, Mabel!
This big, beautiful girl was found as a stray in a small city. Despite her rough start, Mabel is a total joy—she's happy, affectionate, and does great with other dogs!
She is currently a bit underweight and weak, so our focus right now is lots of love, lots of attention, and plenty of good food to get her strong and healthy. We haven't tested her with livestock or birds yet, but we are excited to see her blossom as she gains her strength back!

Atlas
Male - 10 Months old - Great Pyrenees
Abandonment is a heavy word, but for a Great Pyrenees, it’s a physical weight. When his owners moved, they left Atlas to guard an empty house and a life that no longer existed. He was a protector with nothing left to protect.
But then, the village stepped in.
It started with a neighbor who refused to look the other way.
It continued with a partner rescue that secured his safety.
And it ends here—at The Sanctuary.
Atlas is a reminder that while humans can break a heart, a community can mend it. He didn’t hesitate to trust us, so we didn’t hesitate to save him. Today, Atlas isn't a "leftover" from someone’s old life—he is the centerpiece of a brand new one.
Underneath that giant frame is the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet. Atlas is a social butterfly who doesn't believe in strangers—only friends he hasn’t met yet. Whether they are young and bouncy or old and wise, male or female, it doesn't matter to him; he just wants to play. He is currently finishing his quarantine phase, and our next step is LGD (Livestock Guardian Dog) testing to evaluate his working potential.
Niche
Male - 3 Years old - Great Pyrenees
Nelchi (meaning "Light") is a miracle in the making. He was found as a stray, suffering from a horrific foxtail wound that had been left unattended for a while. In the chaos of the shelter system, he was out of time and out of hope. But we believe no dog should die alone just because they were neglected for too long. We didn't know where the money would come from, but we knew we had to say YES.
He wasn’t broken; he was just waiting for someone to see his light. Today, he is healing in a medical foster home, proving every day that he is a majestic guardian in the making. He is great with cats and other dogs.
He is ready for his forever home
Melody, her mother, and her littermates were surrendered to a high-kill shelter at just six weeks old. It was a heartbreaking start for such a primitive, majestic breed, but Melody refused to let that define her. Today, she is blooming into a bright, confident, and eager-to-learn puppy with a joyful, deeply engaging personality. Unlike some independent livestock guardians, Melody absolutely loves to be around her people and thrives on human connection. She is the perfect blend of natural working instinct and an affectionate companion.
Livestock Exposure: Excellent! She has been safely exposed to sheep, goats, poultry, waterfowl, and cats.
Other Animals: Very social and friendly with other dogs.
With Strangers: True to her breed, she is naturally aloof/shy with new people and takes a little time to warm up.
Training Foundation: Kennel trained, highly handleable, and currently learning her basic LGD foundation work. She rides beautifully in the car, too!

Venus
Female - 7 Months old - Great Pyrenees
Venus’s survival is an absolute miracle. She, her mother, and her brother Mars were left abandoned, wandering in the elements for weeks. While many people posted about them on social media, nobody actually stepped up to save them. After a massive, freezing storm rolled through, I couldn't sleep knowing they were out there. The next morning, I drove for hours searching for them, finally reaching the point of giving up. But just as I was about to head home, a brilliant rainbow appeared in my rearview mirror. Taking it as a sign to keep fighting, I turned the very next corner—and there they were. Even after rescuing them, the road was incredibly rocky. Two rescues promised to help and then backed out. A foster placement failed immediately when a massive dog fight broke out upon arrival. Refusing to leave these traumatized babies in a dangerous situation, I brought the whole family to our sanctuary, where they have been safe since February.
Like her brother, Venus spent her most critical formative months surviving in the wild. Because of this, she possesses the primitive, independent instincts of a true, old-school Great Pyrenees.
The Voice of the Sanctuary: Venus takes her guarding duties very seriously. She loves to bark, and she does it with purpose—alerting loudly to any predators, wildlife, or changes in her environment.
The Clever Escape Artist: Venus is highly intelligent, observant, and determined to patrol. She uses her mouth to chew, break boundaries, and dig. If there is a weak spot in a fence, Venus will find it. She requires a home with heavy-duty, reinforced fencing to keep her safe.
Deeply Connected: Venus is profoundly attached to her mother and her brother. Because she had to fend for herself for so long, she is not super human-friendly yet. She also has a fierce hatred for restraint—she and her brother have chewed through over a dozen collars and leashes!
A Faithful Heart: Despite her independent streak, Venus has learned what "home" means. Whenever she manages an escape and goes for a loop around the block, she never looks for trouble or picks fights. She always comes right back to the sanctuary, searching for me. She knows she is safe here.
Venus is not a standard neighborhood pet; she is a majestic, primitive guardian. She needs a breed-savvy, experienced adopter who understands feral or semi-feral LGD behavior. She has been exposed to goats, sheep and birds. She still finds chickens fun but has been doing well with goats.
She will thrive on a secure ranch, farm, or large acreage where her natural desire to bark, patrol, and protect is welcomed. If you have the patience to let her bond at her own pace, the structural security to keep her contained, and a deep respect for the independent spirit of the Great Pyrenees, Venus will make an incredible lifelong partner.

Mars’s journey to our sanctuary is nothing short of a miracle. He, his mother, and his siblings were left abandoned, wandering the elements for weeks. Nobody would step up to help them. People posted about them for two solid weeks on social media, but they remained stranded. Then, a massive storm hit. The next morning, unable to sleep knowing they were out there freezing, I drove out to find them. I drove for hours until I was ready to give up and head home. But as I looked in my rearview mirror, a brilliant rainbow appeared through the glass. I took it as a divine sign to keep searching. I turned the very next corner, and there they were. Somehow, I got the entire family into my car. But the heartbreak wasn't over. Two different rescues promised to take them and then backed out. Then, a foster stepped up, but the moment we arrived, the foster's resident dogs launched into a massive fight. I refused to leave these precious babies, so I brought them to our sanctuary, where they have been safe since February.
Because Mars and his family spent those critical early months fending for themselves, he behaves like a traditional, primitive Livestock Guardian Dog.
The Ultimate Watchman: Mars loves to bark, and he does it for a living. He is intensely aware of his surroundings and will loudly alert to any predators or changes in the environment.
The Escape Artist: Mars is incredibly clever and driven to patrol. If there is a weakness in a fence, he will find it. He uses his mouth to chew, break things, and dig his way out. High-security, heavily reinforced fencing is non-negotiable for him.
A Loyal Heart: Here is the beautiful thing about Mars: even when he manages an escape and goes for a jog around the block, he never picks fights, and he always comes right back looking for me. He knows this sanctuary is home, and his loyalty to his people runs incredibly deep.
Independence & Quirks: Mars is very attached to his mother and siblings and is still learning to trust human hands. He requires a patient adopter who understands feral or semi-feral LGD behavior. He also currently hates the leash—he has successfully chewed through over a dozen collars and leashes!
