Fully developed, field-tested, and proven reliable. Our Finished Guardian Dogs represent the highest level of training and performance. These guardians are the result of years of patience and consistent guidance, graduating only after demonstrating masterful, independent success protecting livestock under real-world ranch conditions.
When you bring a Finished LGD to your ranch, you aren't just getting a dog—you are securing a dependable, fully-vetted partner. They arrive ready to work on day one: confident, stable, and field-proven to handle the most complex predator pressures without the need for constant supervision.
Due to the time and dedication required to develop a Finished LGD, these dogs are rarely available for public listing. Most of our graduates are placed with producers currently on our Priority Waitlist.
To secure a fully trained guardian for your operation, we highly recommend joining our waitlist. This allows us to match the specific temperament and working style of our finished dogs to the unique needs of your livestock and terrain.

Finished Guardian Program
A different breed of excellence at Golden State Great Pyrenees Rescue and Sanctuary, we are not breeders. We are specialists in transformation. We hand-select the most promising—and often the most challenging—dogs from our Puppy, Starter, and Intermediate programs to enter our Finished LGD track.
We take the dogs that require the most nuance, the most patience, and the highest level of expertise, and we stay with them until they are proven. When you receive a Finished LGD from us, you are receiving a dog that has been vetted through the toughest "teenage" phases and come out the other side as a seasoned professional.

See the Standard: Finished LGD Graduates
We are often asked what makes a "Finished" dog worth the wait. These videos tell that story. From predator deterrence to nursery-flock gentleness, our graduates represent the pinnacle of livestock protection. While these specific dogs have already been placed, they serve as a blueprint for the guardians currently moving through our program. We get are located in a high predator load area.

Ozzie's Journey
Ozzie’s journey started in the shadows. He was found as a stray, his face covered in wounds and the evidence of a hard life on the streets. But that was then.
Today, Ozzie is a new dog. His physical scars have completely faded, leaving behind a stunning, healthy Great Pyrenees with a heart that was born to protect. He didn't let his past make him bitter; he let it make him a professional.
Ozzie is a classic LGD. He is naturally wary of strangers and takes his job seriously. He has a low-to-medium bark—he isn't a "nuisance barker," but he will absolutely let you know when something isn't right.
Because Ozzie can clear a 5-foot fence with ease, he requires a home with secure, 6-foot+ fencing. * The Perimeter: Ozzie loves to know exactly where his boundaries are and will naturally try to expand his "patrol zone." He needs a farm or acreage where he has a clear, secure perimeter to manage.
Ozzie survived the streets to become the protector he was always meant to be. Now, he just needs a flock of his own to watch over forever.
